Mumbai, Dec 4 (): Aamir Khan’s Talaash collected about 48 crores in its first weekend and as per early estimates given by boxoffice capsule, the film collected 7.25 cr nett on Monday taking the film’s total to 54.35 cr nett, thus crossing the 50 crore mark in its domestic market in just four days.
Talaash, director Reema Kagti’s latest directorial venture, opened to a positive talk from both viewers and film critics, received a fantastic opening at the domestic as well as overseas box office. Trade analysts predicted that the movie would cross Rs 50 crore mark in its opening weekend. But the film failed to do so, but attained the mark a day later on Monday.
The movie released on a non-holiday Friday, on November 30 and opened well collecting 13.50 crore, Saturday the movie collected 15.50 crore, Sunday the collection was 18.00 crore and early estimates released in boxoffice capsule said the Monday collection was approximately 7.25 crore. The final figure has now turned out to be 54.35 crore at the domestic box office.
Factors that worked well and is still working for the film is word of mouth, which has played a magic for it at the collection centres and the suspense of the film is said to have mainly attracted the attention of the cinema goers.
Talaash has now smashed the opening weekend record of Aamir’s last release, 3 Idiots. The movie is now expected to cross Rs 70 crore mark in its first week. And also predictions say the film has all potential to enter the Rs. 100 crore-club in the first week itself.
The collection may drop down further coming Friday when the Akshay Kumar-starrer Khiladi 786 hits the theatres. And the drop would depend on the merit of Akshay’s film. Talaash may continue to do well even in its second week as well, if Khiladi 786 fails to attract the audience.
