New Delhi, Nov 26 (TruthDive): Asking Sonia Gandhi to withdraw her statement in wake of the U-turn made by former CAG official RP Singh, claiming his comments on PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi regarding 2G scam issue to be misquoted, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad criticized the Congress president for attacking the BJP and passing remarks against the Opposition party.
Prasad said that it was an extensive corruption in allocation of 2G licences that was cancelled by the Supreme Court later. Prasad deeply condemned the Congress president’s statement against the party and said that Mrs Gandhi has questioned the legitimacy of the BJP with an aspect of motivation that is strongly regrettable and inadequate.
Sonia Gandhi was quoted earlier by asking reporters whether BJP had been “exposed” by Singh’s comments, said Ravi Prasad. In a recent statement Mr Singh suggested a methodology to CAG to estimate the loss of the 2G spectrum allocation that was fixed at Rs 1.76 lakh crore in its final report.
While clarifying his earlier statement, the former Director General of CAG said that he acted according to the instruction given by the PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi on the 2G spectrum issue later added that he had been misquoted by the newspaper report of the Indian Express which stated that he had mentioned the name of MM Joshi while preparing the 2G report.
Singh clarified that there was absolutely no evidence of MM Joshi instructing to manipulate the report and that he had been misquoted in the newspaper. Singh also said that he had never gone to Joshi’s house except once.
There was however other CAG officials who had visited Joshi’s house several times for preparing the PAC report, said RP Singh. The former CAG directors however declined to say whether this action was needless and unfair.
