Box office collection : Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) bags 15 cr, Son of Sardaar (SOS) 10 cr on opening day

Mumbai, Nov 16 (TruthDive): Both the Bollywood movies released on Diwali day have made good collections at the box office. As per reports given in koimoi.com, Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ) has collected 15 crores and Ajay Devgn’s Son of Sardaar (SOS) has raked in 10 crores on the opening day, Diwali.

The last directorial venture of late legendary director Yash Chopra’s JTHJ featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in lead roles, has opened to an awesome response and has done superb collection at box office on first day of its release. The movie has also surpassed another Diwali release SOS. But it failed to outdo the first day collection record of Salman Khan’s recent release Ek Tha Tiger.

JTHJ opened huge at multiplexes at the metros across the country, witnessing almost full houses. However, the late afternoon shows and evening shows saw a little decline due to Lakshmi Puja on Diwali evening but the film again saw a good pick up in late shows at nights. Jab Tak Hai Jaan  ruled multiplexes, according to reports.

On the other hand, SOS saw better shows at the single screens in the mass circuits. The Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha starrer did well in Delhi, UP, East Punjab and in other circuits in North India. Interestingly, the first day collection of SOS is the same as films like Barfi and Student of the Year.

SOS is Ajay Devgn’s second biggest opener after Bol Bachchan that released in January of this year. In 2012, SOS stands in the 9th place, in terms of highest opening day collection and occupies the 22nd slot in the all-time list.

Both the movies are predicted to witness a huge jump in the coming days of this week and trade analysts predict that both the movies may cross the 100 crore mark at the box office.
