Box office report : Thuppakki beats Jab Tak Hai Jaan, SOS and Podaa Podi in TN

Chennai, Nov 14 (TruthDive): The most expected movie of this year 2012 and Vijay starrer Thuppakki has opened tremendously as expected at Tamil Nadu box office collection centres on its opening day, on Diwali November 13.

The film surpasses the collection of other big-wig movies like Shahrukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Simbu’s Podaa Podi. Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar was a complete washout in Tamil Nadu box office.

Vijay’s Thuppakki was released worldwide in more than 2000 screens and the movie has already been declared a box office hit. The movie is expected to do a earth-shattering collection in the coming days too. All the website and critic reviews are positive and they have given big thumbs up to the movie.

Early reports said that Thuppakki made a magnificent business in Tamil Nadu box office as well as in the international markets. Majority of the theatres witnessed 100% occupancy. Though SRK’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan was released in around 38 screens in Tamil Nadu, it did not pose a threat to other films released in Tamil Nadu.

JTHJ was released mainly in the multiplexes in TN but the Diwali release Tamil movies, Thuppakki and Podaa Podi dominated the film circuits.

Earlier, Shahrukh Khan’s Ra.One and Don 2 had done good collections at Tamil Box Office. At the same time, Jab Tak Hai Jaan has done well in Chennai, shown an amazing opening in other cities of India as well as at the international box office.

Exact opening day collection reports for the movies – Thuppakki, Podaa Podi, Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Son Of Sardaar are not yet revealed.

Thuppakki, which is an action-thriller film, is directed by AR Murugadoss, Shahrukh Khan starrer Jab Tak Hain Jaan is a romantic movie and Silambarasan’s Podaa Podi is a romantic-musical film.
