Box office collection : Opening weekend collection of Aiyyaa, Bhoot Returns, Makkhi

Mumbai, Oct 16 (TruthDive): Last Friday saw six major releases in Bollywood – Aiyyaa, Makkhi, Bhoot Returns, Chittagong, In The Name Of Tai and Login – all have failed to show a big collection at box office in India.

Instead, the previous week releases like English Vinglish and OMG Oh My God have overtaken collection centers in the country.

Among six movies released, Rani Mukherjee’s “Aiyyaa” is the biggest film of all. The movie was made with a budget of Rs 16 crore, but the movie could not garner much in its first weekend.

As per the reports given out by Bollywood life, the movie garnered Rs 5 crore in its opening weekend at the domestic box office. It collected 2.75 crores on the opening day.

“Bhoot Returns”, which raked in 1.25 crore at the domestic box office on the opening day, collected Rs 3.75 crore in its opening weekend.

The Telugu remake film in Hindi version, “Makkhi” garnered more than Rs 2.06 crore on its opening weekend, as it showed an audience growing over the holidays by word of mouth publicity. Its collection on Friday at box office was approximately 54 lakhs.

Meanwhile, English Vinglish and OMG! Oh My God still remain champions of this week at the box office. Both films have easily crossed over their budgets, thus earning the tag ‘superhit films’ for the year.

Oneindia Entertainment says OMG Oh My God has raked in Rs 8.5 crores in its third weekend, thus collecting Rs 68.5 crores in its 17 days of release, while Sridevi’s comeback movie English Vinglish collected Rs 8 crores in its third weekend to collect a total of Rs 29 crores in 10 days of its release.

Other releases of this week Chittagong, In The Name of Tai and Login have been declared as big flops. They have to struggle to recover their production costs in coming days.
