Chennai, Oct 16 (): Surya’s Maattrraan and its Telugu version Brothers are roaring at the Indian box office, collecting a whopping amount of Rs 27.75 crore in its opening weekend.
The movie was released on October 12, Friday with a bang and received mixed reviews from audiences and film critics.
As per the reports given by Superwoods, the collection for Maattrraan in its first weekend is as follows:
October 12, Friday – 9.50 cr
October 13, Saturday – 9.25 cr
October 14, Friday – 9.00 cr
Total domestic collection – 27.75 cr
Suriya’s Maattrraan is one of the most awaited movies of this year. Its story revolves around conjoined twins played by Suriya. K V Anand has directed the movie and Kajal Aggarwal plays the female lead role. The movie has Sachin Khedekar, Ajay Ratnam, Tara, Shankar Krishnamurthy and Ravi Prakash in supporting roles and Isha Sharvani does guest appearance.
The film was released in more than 1,200 screens worldwide. In Tamil Nadu, Maattrraan was released in over 500 screens and in Chennai alone, it was released in 32 screens.
The movie has got a good word for its decent storyline and Suriya’s magnificent performance. The film was originally 2 hours and 35 minutes long. After receiving mixed response from film critics and audiences, the makers of “Maattrraan” have trimmed the movie short to amaze a larger section of moviegoers.
Sources said the film is trimmed by about 3 minutes in its first half and the second half has been cut by about 22 minutes.
Trade critics said the opening of the movie is good and with its new crisp version in its later half the movie is expected to do better.
Public views said the initial reviews about the movie were moderately a mix-bag and after the second half of the movie was trimmed by nearly 20 minutes, the prospects of the movie turning out to be a hit are much higher.
