Patna, Oct 16 (TruthDive): Following the last week police firing in Madhubani town in Bihar, the opposition party in the state which observed a one-day bandh on Monday throughout Bihar took a huge protest to the street yesterday in which LJP chief Ram Vilas Paswan and RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav were arrested, said the police.

The police detained both the leaders who went on a huge protest seeking the dismissal of the ruling government in the state causing disturbance to law and order in the state. Trains were also cancelled after the demonstrators blocked the railway tracks seeking resignation of the chief minister Nitish Kumar.

The agitators in hundreds blocked the trains in several places causing disturbance to people in response to the last week police firing in which three people were killed and more than ten injured.

Roads and highways appeared to be deserted as autos and buses were not allowed to ply on the roads. Educational institutions remained closed for the day in view of the bandh called by the opposition. Police said that a number of long journey trains were also said to be cancelled.

Police in large numbers were put to service following the bandh call to keep the situation under control except one or two places reporting minor incidents across the city. Later it returned to normalcy, said the police.

A total of two hundred party workers from the opposition had been arrested when they were involved in taking the law in their hands. The trouble in the city started following the death of two young men who were killed in a police firing that took place on Friday in Madhubani town, said the police.

A legal inquiry has been ordered into the police firing by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar who issued a transfer of the superintendent of police of Madhubani for showing negligence in controlling the situation on Friday.
