Social activist turned politician Arvind Kejriwal detained by Delhi Police

New Delhi, Oct 13 (TruthDive): Police took into custody activists of IAC including Arvind Kejriwal and his supporters on Friday after they marched towards Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s residence seeking his resignation and demanding the arrest of Union cabinet Minister Salman Khurshid over the alleged corruption by a trust headed by him.

Arvind Kejriwal and his followers were detained a few kilometers away from the Prime Minister’s Race Course residence after they turned down the request of the Delhi police to break up, said a senior police officer.

Kejriwal said that he and his activists shall not move till the Prime Minister meets them and assures them Khurshi’s resignation from his ministry. He also challenged the government by saying that the day-long agitation will be continuing till the ruling government fulfils its demand.  “We shall make this place another Tahrir Square,” cried Kejriwal.

IAC activists for the sake of disabled people are sitting on a dharna near National Archives, Janpath. The Prime Minister had showed his unwillingness to meet the activists. We will be sitting till the Prime Minister meets us or Salman Khurshid quits, said an IAC representative.

“We  asked for an appointment from the Prime Minister but the officials declined permission to me by saying the Prime Minister’s is having a busy schedule today,” stated Kejriwal who was about to hand over a letter to the Prime Minister  which  contains the details regarding his allegations against Mr Khurshid.

“We request to file a police complaint against the Union Minister Salman Khurshid and his wife Lousie Khurshid. He has no right to continue in the office till he proves himself to be innocent. With their influence they can destroy the evidence by forcing witness. Both of them should be taken into custody immediately,” demanded Arvind Kejriwal.

Meanwhile the Congress earlier refused commenting on the so-called allegation by Kejriwal on the financial misdeeds in the Zakir Hussain Memorial Trust which is being run by the minister.
