Mumbai, Sep 29 (): This Friday, September 18 saw two Bollywood releases — Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal KDM and Omg Oh My God!. Both the movies opened with an average response at box office.
As per the early estimates given by apun ka choice, OMG has collected 3.75 – 4 cr nett on its opening day and Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal has opened with a poor collection of Rs.1.25 lakh to Rs. 1.50 lakh.
KDM was the sequel to super-hit 2006 movie Malamaal Weekly, which collected more than 25 crores nett at the Indian box office. It was a big collection then, for a film without any major stars. But, KDM was not promoted well, which accounted for a dull opening and box office collection reports are poor too.
OMG has failed to create a mass opening on its first day. The expectation about the movie was very high but in the collection at the box office was not up to the mark, the opening was termed as an average one. Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar had about only 35% occupancy in multiplexes.
In Gujarat, the movie did well, whereas the usual mass belts of Maharastra, North India and central India did not show any huge response to the movie. OMG made 80 lakh in Delhi and UP. South and East India showed very little response to the movie.
It is said, the overall film did not show any individual growth due to T20 cricket match in the evening and the festive of Ganesh Visarjan in Maharashtra. The collection with a considerable amount is expected on Saturday and Sunday to achieve a respectable lifetime box office total.
OMG Oh My God starring Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar in leads, is a message-oriented film of God’s existence. Film critics have given mixed reviews about the movie. While Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal is a sequel to Malamaal Weekly.
