Bodies found in UK-registered car near French lake

Paris, Sep 6 (): Four people reportedly were found shot dead on a French alpine forest road on Wednesday, near a tourist resort near Lake Annency, of Alpine Haute Savoie region.

Three bodies were found inside a BMW with British-registration and a male cyclist was found dead close by. The frightening scene was seen by another cyclist who is still in shock.

A young girl of age under 10, another passenger in the car is fighting for her life and hospitalized in intensive care in Grenoble with three bullet wounds. She was taken to the hospital by helicopter.

Many bullet casings were seen around the car. Reports say many spent cartridges have been found on the ground around the BMW.

The victims are unknown but Prosecutor Eric Maillaud said that a man in the driver’s seat and two women seated at the back seat were killed. The three victims are believed to be from the same family. They were travelling in a BMW 4X4 sports utility vehicle registered in UK, near the town of Chevaline.

The area has now been sealed off from the public. Nearly 60 officers spread into the forest area in search of possible criminals of what they call a multiple murder, a gendarme captain said. French television footage showed a board at the entrance of the road warning “Dangerous Road” in French, German and English.

No weapon is found yet and no arrests have been done. Forensic specialists from Criminal Research Institute of the National Gendarmerie were about to arrive on the spot on Wednesday night from Paris. Maillaud said autopsies are planned for Thursday or Friday.

The dead bodies were found in the foothills of Alps, which is well known for its waterfalls and springs, near Lake Annecy. The lake is a famous tourist destination best known for its water sports and swimming.
