Chennai, Sep 3 (): Mugamoodi has received a tremendous collection in its opening weekend. Jeeva starrer movie made on a budget of Rs.20 crore, has reportedly collected about Rs.10 crore at the box office in its first weekend.
Mugamoodi was released on Friday, Aug 31 in around 600 theatres worldwide. The movie has maintained 100 per cent occupancy in Chennai, Trichy, Madurai and surrounding areas, and above 80 per cent in all other areas.
The detail breakup of the first weekend collections are available and the total collection from Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka for the first weekend is between 8.5 and 10 crores. Chennai, Coimbatore, North/South Arcot, Chengalpet areas have crossed the one crore mark while Trichy, Salem and Madurai also have raked in sizable collections.
Audiences have liked Jeeva’s superhero image in Mysskin directed Tamil movie “Mugamoodi”. Earlier, the promotion for the movie was also done well. Promotions through social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter seem to have worked strongly in the film’s favour.
The makers of the movie also announced special contest for “Mugamoodi” on Twitter where participants were filtered through a selection process and were invited to watch the film with the lead cast on the first day.
The movie received mixed reviews from the film critics and the good word from mouth has helped the movie in good collection in its first weekend. The highlights of the movie are the superhero factor and the visually pleasing contents. Music by K is considered to be the top notch for the movie and the song “Vaaya moodi suma iru da” has become a super hit.
Especially, the slow stunt scenes with Jeeva’s intense body language make an excellent watch. Heroine, Pooja hegde has done her role well. Narain is riveting in his villan role.
Mugamoodi is expected to continue a good run in its collection in the coming weeks as well.
