One more arrested in Bangalore terror crackdown

Bangalore, Sep 1 (): Twenty-six year old Obaid Rehman, one more accused has been arrested from Hyderbad on Friday evening by the Bangalore police in connection with hatching plots of terror attack in South India.

Rehman, a student from Hyderabad was taken to Bangalore for further investigation. The eleven arrested include a scientist of the Defence Research and Development Organisation and a journalist.

According to top government sources, the persons arrested had no links with the Indian Mujahideen but Akram has appeared under the scanner of the Indian Security agencies for giving directions from West Asian country to the Indian underworld Mafias in order to target all those who were anti Muslims.

The Bangalore police on Saturday said they found concrete proofs after questioning the arrested people. The police believe that the terrorists, who were suspected to have links with LeT and HuJI, had a larger network throughout the country. All the suspects after being produced before a local magistrate were sent to 14-day police custody.

On the other hand, a Muslim federation of over dozen organizations on Friday demanded quick and fair investigation into the arrest of the youth suspected to have links with banned terror outfits LeT and HuJI who were plotting to carry out terrors attacks in the city.

“According to rule of law and reiteration a fair and quick investigation of the case should take place in which innocents should not be targeted,” told Masood Abdul Khader, federation convener to reporters after the police revealed the arrest of the Muslim youth.

“We would like to indicate that LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba) and HuJi (Harkat-ul-Jihad- e-Islam) are at war with each other and it is not possible for anyone to work for both the terror outfits. We have enough reason to suspect the police report,” added Mr Khader.

Expressing deep concern over the sudden arrests without previous intimation or arrest warrants, the federation has appealed to Governor HR Bhardwaj, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar and Home Minister R Ashoka to make sure the investigation is held in a clear and lawful manner without any undue influence.
