Mumbai, Sep 1 (): Reported to be Akshay Kumar’s 100th film, ‘Joker’ started on very poor note and has a shocking figure at the collection centres across the country on the first day of its release. Joker has collected approximately Rs 4 crores at the domestic Box Office on its first day.
It was shocking to see how an Akshay Kumar film can have an opening day with an average occupancy of 20%. The collection was very low and it is the worst collection that Akshay’s films ever had.
Trade analysts Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#Joker Friday numbers are poor in India and international markets. Amongst @akshaykumar’s lowest openers.”
Joker has been produced by Akshay Kumar, Shirish Kunder and Farah Khan with a whopping budget of Rs 50 crore. The film has failed to create a mark at the box office, as the opening day collections are lower than smaller films like Kya Super Kool Hain Hum, Teri Meri Kahaani and Jism 2.
Akshay Kumar has been among the most successful Bollywood actors in last 2-3 years. ‘Housefull 2′ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’ earned more than Rs 100 crore, so the makers were very hopeful that he would give another great show on the ticket window.
But, disappointing the makers the movie opened to a shockingly low response at the box office on Friday. The opening at places was as low 5-10%. The all India opening is around 20-25%.
With Akshay Kumar playing the lead role, Joker (2012) stars Sonakshi Sinha, Shreyas Talpade, Jaaved Jaaferi and Minissha Lamba. The movie is directed by Shirish Kunder.
If the movie has to recover its production cost, the movie has to show a big jump in its business on Saturday and Sunday. But, today (Saturday), Joker is continuing with a very slow trend so far with not a big rise in collections. For now the future of Joker looks very dull at the Box Office.
