New Delhi, Mar 7 (TruthDive): As the IPL 5 2012 T20 matches will start on April 4, huge expectation from the cricket fans is on. The first to cover the audience – Delhi Daredevils on Tuesday launched their new official song ‘Munday Dilli Ke‘ to herald the upcoming season of IPL 5.
The franchisee owner, GMR Sports in a statement said the new song is in keeping with the vibrant feel that the squad has with players – skipper Virender Sehwag, vice-captain Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pietersen, David Warner, Ross Taylor and Irfan Pathan.
“The theme for the song is in keeping with our Dare to Succeed philosophy and a clarion call to all Delhi Daredevils supports to come out and play on the front foot,” GMR Sports head (Marketing), Hemant Dua, said.
The song, sung by Jaspreet Jasz and composed by Arijit Datta and Micu Patel, has already pumped up the excitement among the team’s fans. After the song was launched on Delhi Daredevils Radio Partner, Fever 104 FM on Monday evening, Delhi Daredevils fans have welcomed the new song whole-heartedly.
Fans have used the Delhi Daredevils Facebook page and Twitter handle to express their delight at the lively new song.
Earlier, Delhi Daredevils had signed New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor for the fifth IPL season. Taylor, who played for Rajasthan Royals in the last season, will join a star-studded line-up, which has players like Virender Sehwag, David Warner, Mahela Jayawardene, Kevin Pieterson and Ifran Pathan.
He is the second batsman Daredevils have signed. In last year’s auction, Royals bought Taylor for $1 million. Delhi Daredevils team mentor TA Sekar said, “We are confident that we have a very competitive side and can have a good run in the coming edition of the Indian Premier League.”
Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene has been named as the vice-captain of the Delhi Daredevils in the upcoming IPL 5. Virender Sehwag will remain the captain of the Delhi Daredevils.
