Bangalore, Nov 1 (TruthDive): Los Angeles heavy metal band Metallica gave its first ever live performance in India, putting the fiasco over Friday’s cancelled Gurgaon concert behind. Metallica fever in Bangalore finally came to an end as they performed in the Garden City on October 30.
The performance, which was to be the second for Metallica in India, turned out to be its maiden show following the abrupt cancellation of its concert at the Leisure Valley in Gurgaon on Friday over “security issues”.
The opening act began at 6pm. Delhi-Based metal band ‘Guillotine’ opened the concert after being chosen to open for Metallica’s F1 gig in India. They were followed by the Bangalore band Inner Sanctum, followed by the Scottish band Biffy Clyro. These bands completed their performance at about 7.45pm, after which there was a lull of about 45 minutes when Metallica was expected to take the stage.
Heavy rains caused the delay, but the die-hard metal fans who DNA spoke to had just this to say: “We waited for years for Metallica to come to India, so what with just 45 minutes delay, knowing that they would play at the end of it?”
Metallica, which finally opened its account at about 8.30 pm. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo, came onstage. Metallica came, they played and they blew our minds out. The crowd erupted in joy when Metallica took the stage to play some of their hits much to the delight of their fans.
The Metallica faithful went ra ra over the song and the band just stopped playing as the crowd completed the last five minutes of the song for the band.
