Monroe’s wedding ring from marriage to DiMaggio goes under the hammer

London, Oct 29 (ANI): Marilyn Monroe’s wedding ring from ill-fated marriage to Joe DiMaggio has been put up for auction.

The platinum eternity band signified the hope of a harmonious future that would never happen, as the marriage did not even last a year.

Just eight months after their wedding, the couple had separated amid a storm of jealous rows, and two months later the marriage was no more.

The New York Yankees star had bought the eternity ring, set with 35 baguette-cut diamonds, to give Monroe on their wedding day on Jan 14, 1954, the Daily Mail reported.

The historic piece has been put up for sale by California auction house Profiles in History and is likely to fetch 300,000 to 500,000 dollars. (ANI)
