Chennai, Dec 2 (): An all-party meeting will be organized soon by the Chennai Corporation on conservancy operations in four zones covered by Neel Metal Fanalca (NMF).
Mayor Mr. M.Subramanian told the Corporation Council that, the meeting has been projected in the backdrop of complaints from residents including the four zones, keeping in mind the need to improve the operations and would decide on the next course of action. The civic body will be making efforts to ensure adequate conservancy operations in the four zones, he added.
The Council had adopted a declaration a few months ago favoring the takeover of the conservancy operations including wards 115,116, 117, 118, 120, 121,128 and 129 and on bus route roads in the Kodambakkam, Ice House, Adyar, and Pulianthope zones in a phased manner from NMF.
The company began to operate on April 2008, after it was awarded a seven-year contract by the civic body. The council adopted 29 resolutions, which includes those relating to land attainment for broadening of four roads.
Payment of reimbursement for acquiring a small piece of land from Loyola College for widening of Mahalingapuram Road is one of the resolutions adopted. Other roads are Montieth Road, Burkit Road and Madhavaram High Road.
The council adopted a resolution in launching six new courses in the corporation community colleges. It also adopts a resolution for addition of 99,715 persons on the list of people below poverty line for benefiting on Central government welfare schemes.
Corporation Councilor Devaki staged a walkout alleging that many poor people were not included in the list. Other resolutions relating to identifying small pieces of land to facilitate Metro Rail project were also approved.
