Election 2009: Varun remanded under NSA act, Azharuddin in Moradabad

Mr. Advani is a quirky character..When you think he is an honest or normal person, he blindsides you with an offside. As much as I hate writing about politicians, they are as inviting..

Advani said today that “I remember the Emergency when great patriots like Jai Prakash Narayan, Morarji Desai, Atal Bihari Vajpayee were arrested under MISA contending that they were a threat to national security,” he said referring to the Varun Gandhi episode in an interview to Zee News.

Firstly, I dont have to teach Mr. Advani, what is emergency..How can you equate Varun’s handling of the case with emergency. During emergency, you will be in Jail irrespective of you talk or not, if you are from opposition party. Opposition politicians were rounded up and regularly beaten up to break their will power. City Babu was a TN politician who died due to the police beating in Chennai prison.

Secondly, Is it fair to even put freedom fighters and architects of our political system such as JP Narayanan and Vajpai, with Varun Gandhi in the same sentence. I have nothing against Varun. He is young. But how can you even make this comparison. even at his age, Vajpai and JP had contributed more.

Thirdly the irony in the statement is the ultimate satire. Varun Gandhi’s father was the considered the culprit behind the excesses during Emergency. Now is n’t poetic justice, when you said Varun is treated similar to Emergency?

I don’t even want to go into the contradiction of non-idol worship believer Advani, hell bent on building a temple. My dear readers, don’t you think it is unfair for you to be upset with me, that I pick on just a few leaders.  The reason is they take us for fools! Mr. Advani, you can either be a Statesman or not, you can’t be both.

Azharuddin has been fielded as the Cong candidate in Moradabad, UP. What is his connection  to Moradabad? Nothing, Except that he is a muslim and a large chunk of voters are Muslims. Is he going to move to Moradabad? I doubt if the suave and urban Azharuddin would find it inviting to live with his rural UP bhais.

A person who has been convicted of selling his own team/country for the sake of money is asked to represent our country in Parliment. I dont know how the politics of choosing candidates works,  But aren’t they able to find one good Muslim candidate in the whole constituency or whole India. I wonder what the decent and clean Mr. Manmohan Singh has to say about this.

I am not naive to not understand the compulsions and limitations of the politicians. After all, our epic Mahabarata is based on it. But I am certain, if we dont comment about it, they will not see a reason to change their ways.
